06/17/2023. Summer is here Big Time.. Temps are raising and it's been a very warm few days. Continue to stay hydrated. Now's a good time to make sure your Bike is ready to make those rides during this summer season. Always give her a good look before you jump on. Make sure your license, registration, and insurance are all current. Check the oil. Clean the air filter. Check the lights. Check the tires. You're going to need a lot of tread this year, as Texas is gearing up for another hot year. Of course, if you're like some of us, these checks remain a near daily thing, as we are fortunate to live in a state that allows us to ride nearly year-round. Either way, it is important that you maintain your bike. Myself, I get the bike out for 30-60 minutes or so just about every day I can to get the at much needed Wind Therapy, I need.
October 2021, we had our 12th Anniversary Party at VFW 3393 in Kempner. The event went very well. We Thank each and every one who attended, donated and took part in the Auction. Our community continues to come out and support our local veterans and their families. We want to say a LOUD Thank You to all our Black and Gold Brothers and families who traveled here from many chapters and states to attend. We are proud to continue our support of this great community.
9 April 2022 we held our Spring Bike Night at VFW 3393 in Kempner. We Thank all who attended and who sponsored/donated to our Vets Fund. It was a great success. 16 April at the Pitstop in Nolanville we supported our Belton Chapters 3rd annual. They had a great turnout and thank all for the support.
13-16 May 2022 we rode out to New Mexico to once again support our Chapter/Brothers annual. Great riding, lots of fun and as always great times.
This year our Nationals will be held here in Texas 1-3 September 2023. It's going to be a great 3 days for sure. We look forward to seeing our out of state Brothers, Ladies and families. Thier will be plenty of food and drinks. The ride to Texas should be great. For the most part weather should be nice 70-80s. Temps that weekend show mid 60s at night mid 70s during the day.
We have been fortunate to continue to provide assistance to Camp Cowboy, a local organization that helps Veterans and their families by training them to work with/communicate with horses and each other... create a bond with them, care for them, train them, and ride them. If you'd like to know more about Camp Cowboy, copy and paste the following link: https://www.campcowboy.org
The course is free and runs quarterly. The next class begins Monday 6 Feb at 0900 all are invited to the opening ceremony. You are always welcome to stop by and visit and even sign up if interested. Two classes run, one daily the other at night for the active-duty members.
On 10 December Camp Cowboy had their alumni Christmas party. Food was great and the band Sixkiller was rocking. They had a special guest MSG Retired Special Forces Chris Spense one of the original 12 Horseman in Afghanistan and the movie 12 Strong. His presentation was great!!!
Fund raising in 2022 went well. We have been able to assist numerous Veterans and families. With the lift we received at our Annual we were able to help support more families this holiday season. Our Bike Night fund raiser 16 April 2022 at VFW 3393 in Kempner went really well. The donations received will help us continue to assist Veterans, their families and Camp Cowboy. Our 12th Anniversary Party will be 15 October 2022 at VFW 3393 in Kempner Texas. It is open to the public.
We are continuing to support the Temple Texas VA Home located next to the VA Hospital. This is a great opportunity to give back and be there for our Hero Veterans who have served our country past and present. Everyone is invited to join us every third Friday of every month in visiting the facility from 2:30pm-4:30pm. We finally were able to continue that support in May of 2021 once they were cleared to have visitors and all COVID-19 Safety Protocols were in place. The residents were very happy to see us.
We want to express how important it is now to take care of yourself and your families. Check on Seniors, call family and friends who may need encouragement during this time of uncertainty. Stay Healthy and do the best you can to stay that way. Much Love to our community, Ride Safe.
If you are interested in finding out more about who we are, or to ride with us, feel free to contact us or come to our meeting at the Kempner VFW 3393 at 7pm on the first Thursday of each month.
